ROSS Construction undertook the development of a 3000 square-foot contemporary home in south Co. Dublin. From the project’s inception, our aim has been to create a residence that seamlessly marries modern aesthetics with a sense of warmth and home comfort. This home offers a sprawling, single-level floor plan, and our challenge has been to infuse every area with visual interest, especially in long corridor spaces.

Design Philosophy
The design ethos for this project revolves around achieving a harmonious blend of clean, minimal detailing while maintaining an inviting, cozy atmosphere. We carefully balanced sharp, contemporary features with soft, textured elements. The resulting aesthetic is one of juxtaposition, where light meets dark, sharp lines complement soft textures, all intended to captivate interest while ensuring a deep sense of comfort.

Architectural Highlights
Sustainability: Home sustainability is a holistic approach to living that considers environmental, economic, and social aspects. It not only benefits the environment but also enhances the comfort, health, and long-term cost savings of homeowners. The seamless integration of sustainability into the architecture of this home is a remarkable achievement that combines both aesthetics and environmental consciousness. When sustainability is elegantly woven into the design, it not only enhances the beauty of the home but also contributes positively to the environment.

Seamless Rooflight: To infuse visual interest into the long corridor areas, we incorporated a slim, seamless rooflight running the length of a 14-meter hallway. This feature not only floods the space with natural light but also serves as a striking design element.
Timber Oak Cladding: We seamlessly connected timber cladding from the entrance hall to one of the walls, establishing a sense of continuity and warmth throughout the home. The juxtaposition of natural wood against contemporary elements creates a captivating contrast.

Floor to Ceiling Door: Instead of plain, lengthy walls with multiple doors, we designed the entrances to rooms as features. This involved creating a series of inset door areas, adding depth and character to the hallways. These inset doorways serve as transition points that engage the eye and provide a unique architectural element.

Bespoke Joinery: To further enhance the living experience, we incorporated bespoke joinery areas with fireplace features and window seats. These elements serve as focal points and stopping points, providing both functional and aesthetic value. They offer opportunities for relaxation and reflection within the home.
